Between us we have over 50 years of experience working with standards and assessment for regulated professions in Canada.
We are applying our knowledge, skills and experience to
address Continuing Professional Competence and the problem it creates for
professional regulatory bodies.
Is it a problem? Well, ask yourself:
Continuing Competence for a professional?
When we ask others this question, here are the sorts of
things that are offered in response:
- That’s about
maintaining your skills, right?
- It means taking CE
courses…so many hours per year…
- It’s the same as quality
assurance, isn’t it?
- Staying current, that’s
Actually, the correct answer is none of the above!
Continuing Competence is fundamentally different from entry-to-practice competence.
All regulators are familiar with entry-to-practice competence, which is the gateway into a profession, and which is implemented and managed as a “one size fits all” standard.
But across a registrant body, and beyond entry-to-practice, continuing competence is more of a “moving target” – how do you manage that?
We have the Solution:
We have developed a Framework for Career-Span Competence, which provides a new and powerful way of looking at how competence develops over a professional’s career span.
The Framework applies across registrant
categories, across practice settings and even across professions!
Our solution provides a structure for regulatory programs that serves the public interest, meets the needs of the regulator, and resonates meaningfully with registrants.
If you would like to learn more about the Framework for Career-Span Competence and how it may be applied to regulatory programming contact us by emailing:
